Sunflowers

Late summer  / early autumn sunflowers in store this week. Dreaming of France

M.i.h at Starburst Boutique

Two new collections from M.i.h dropped a couple of weeks ago and this is the first opportunity  to really talk about them. The classic are rolled out again including the oversize white shirt and the Paris jeans in a classic blue denim wash called dip and also black. A new addition to the mix is the Marrakesh also in the dip wash. Quite a racy addition for Starburst. The Marrakesh is a bit of a iconic jean from M.i.h being a favorite of celebrity's and the press. The cut is high, with a cool kick flare and ultra long leg.  The whole collection has a slight nod to the 1970`s and my winners have to be the Breton jumper in deep navy and the Carter shirt in white which has a cute star motif.

Buying Part 2

Another August and another buying season is completed. Two weeks ago I viewed the SS17 offering from East by East West. The collection was beautiful. Simple, elegant and easy to wear.  Sunu the designer behind the brand never dissapoints which is always such a relief as a buyer.  Sunu  has had a roller coaster ride in the past couple of months dealing with the ever changing demands of running a small label post Brexit and has been personally overseeing production in Korea. I continually admire people who work relentlessly away keeping the faith! As distracting as the collections on offer is the cool surroundings in which the label is shown. Each season Alby from Woven agency takes over The Townhouse in Spitalfields.  A lovely creaking, atmospheric old house painted in muted colours and lit by numerous candles. Next door is the shop which is all part of the same set up and an absolute delight. When I visited deep in winter the fire at the back of the shop was lit and the wall lights where glowing a rich red.  A lit fire in London always seem so decadent. Inside was a lovely edit of antiques, original oil paintings, books, pottery and textiles. A refreshing change especially as I am slightly tired of scrubbed planks and faux industrial, reclaimed  interiors that seem to be drenching Devon at the moment.

Mos Mosh Jeans AW16

Mos Mosh Jeans are now in store..in the meantime ultra flattering jeans and easy to wear the Athena and Victoria have made there debut. Both styles are mid to high rise and have an element of stretch for a super smooth and easy fit. We are loving the black zip details of the Victoria which feature on the back of the leg and pockets.

Our designs are heavily influenced buy our favourite icons and special vintage pieces we have in our wardrobe. We are complete hunters and spend endless hours at flea markets when away, vintage fairs, antiques auctions, charity shops... anywhere where we feel we can find a hidden gem you will find us. We are both the same and love anything old and interesting. We are pretty obsessed with Ossie Clark and Celia Birtwelll - there prints are genius! So if we could be compared to a modern day Celia we would be very happy girls ðŸ™‚
We both met at university, we both studied at London College of Fashion together and hit it off straight away - we have such similar mind sets in the way we want to build RIXO and also in our design overview its a little scary. Where there is a will there is a way and we are both two girls on a mission working from home, painting all our own prints in our living room trying to turn our dream into a reality! We are pleased with how the brand has exploded since we started but we are our bardes critical and never fully happy... there is always more improvement and we have soooo many ideas in the way we want to develop RIXO.
AW16 is all inspired by gypsies... It'll be called Caravan Couture. We are fascinated by old gypsy painted caravans and tarot cards so we have drawn a lot of inspiration from this.
So hard we have so many but we always go back to the Olsen twins... the get it right all the time.
Lots of exciting plans coming up and a few collaborations but nothing that we can share as of yet... watch this space. ðŸ™‚
