Kate Sheridan

This years ever popular waxed cape`s from Kate Sheridan now come with Liberty print and ticking lining (and a new cropped shape) .Good for striding across Dartmoor or along the South West Coast Path.  As mentioned in previous posts they are more chic and cooler alternative to the boring, over exposed ( and a bit chav dare I say) Barbour.

The Sun Came Out

A rare glimmer of hope with the weather this week. It was so good I even dared a late afternoon visit to Blackpool Sands.

Marilyn Moore SS13

For all Marilyn Moore fans out there  you will be pleased to know that her SS13 collection is starting to trickle in bit by bit. One of my favourite pieces ( delivered last week I am a bit slow of the mark alerting everyone) is the Nixie dress which some Starburst followers will recognise from last year when it appeared in a striped formation. This dress is mega versatile. Its simple sixties A-line shape works just as well with bare tanned legs and elegant flats as it does over turn up jeans , a cardi and pumps. This years print reminds me of a Ellen von Unwerth shoot from a 1995 edition of Vogue. All early Tom Ford  Gucci prints and mid nineties supermodels. Scary to to think that I was gearing up for my GCSE`s when it was first published.

Nixie in store sizes 8-14 all yours for  £189.00
Here is a close up of the 1960`s print

and now for the April 1995 vogue shoot..

Norman Parkinson

It would of been Norman Parkinsons 100th birthday today. I am just as mesmerized by his photography now as I was when I discovered them on a postcard when I was 13. His haughty, elegant and often fun fashion photography is want made me want to get into the industry. Who can fail but to be bowled over by his images.  I am slightly overexcited by the prospect of an exhibition of his work occurring in Bath ( in not to distant) curated by Roland Mouret. Roland Mouret! Jigging around the west country!  Him of the galaxy dress which was totally ruined by Carol Vorderman. But Roland Mouret is a bit of a god in my mind, so French and so sexy! lovely frocks too.

Slightly Tim Walker dont you think?

The last picture of the man himself is one that I have kept in a scrapbook for years, there is something about a man that can dance and one that is so smart, elegant and willowy that is utterly appealing

Sabine Graf - Handmade Shoes & Boots Dartmouth

After the casualties of winter its lovely to see a true artisan open her doors for Spring / Summer. Sabine Graf hails from Germany where she studied architecture. However a chance meeting in green shoes in Totnes got her on the path of making and designing her own boots, shoes, and bags. She can now be found most days in the market square in Dartmouth where she has set up a workshop / shop.  Sabine is available for commissions.for boots and shoes. Check her website out at Sabine Graf
