Buying Part 2

Another August and another buying season is completed. Two weeks ago I viewed the SS17 offering from East by East West. The collection was beautiful. Simple, elegant and easy to wear.  Sunu the designer behind the brand never dissapoints which is always such a relief as a buyer.  Sunu  has had a roller coaster ride in the past couple of months dealing with the ever changing demands of running a small label post Brexit and has been personally overseeing production in Korea. I continually admire people who work relentlessly away keeping the faith! As distracting as the collections on offer is the cool surroundings in which the label is shown. Each season Alby from Woven agency takes over The Townhouse in Spitalfields.  A lovely creaking, atmospheric old house painted in muted colours and lit by numerous candles. Next door is the shop which is all part of the same set up and an absolute delight. When I visited deep in winter the fire at the back of the shop was lit and the wall lights where glowing a rich red.  A lit fire in London always seem so decadent. Inside was a lovely edit of antiques, original oil paintings, books, pottery and textiles. A refreshing change especially as I am slightly tired of scrubbed planks and faux industrial, reclaimed  interiors that seem to be drenching Devon at the moment.
