Notes du Nord - One to Watch

The glamour of the art deco era combined with a cool Danish aesthetic are the building blocks of Notes du Nord which was founded by a husband and wife team in 2015. The SS17 collection was luxurious, classic and incredibly sophisticated and entitled  "The Italian Spring" . Base notes of black and grey where given a lift with a sprinkling of washed out leopard, lime green and a heavy does of sequins in shades of champagne and gunmetal.  Bright green botanical prints jostled for space alongside ditsy rose florals on liquid pewter satin ( turned into divine pj style suits) This combined with butter soft leather in jet black, frothy black lace and gigantic cocoon coats encrusted with jewels gave the collection a luxe evening feel. One of the highlights was a floor length dress covered in gems so heavy you need a weightlifter on hand to help. Red carpet dressing at its best. Another element of the collection which was beyond beautiful where the wide leg fine pleat trousers in grey. Completely  reminiscent of a Madame Gres creation from the 1930`s.

and because we are so inspired by those pleats and they take us back to the 1930`s ear of Vionnet gowns and  Madam Gres we look back on the below
